2017 Paulino Bernabé Gold Medaille in Lauro Prieto and Cedar. Lauro Prieto, sometimes called Louro Preto (Portuguese), is a relative of Bocote and a first for us here in the shop, hopefully not the last. It has a unique grain pattern that’s dramatic but warm, which matches the voice: warmth, vibrancy, clarity. This guitar’s namesake comes from Paulino winning first prize at the 1974 München Internationale Handwerksmesse (International Crafts Trade Fair). And it’s no doubt why Bernabé won. Carryi
