The Martin D35 traces its origins back to 1965, when Martin swapped the two-piece back for a three-piece one due to the small size of the available Brazilian rosewood parts. Featuring this distinctive characteristic, the D35 found a place between the iconic D28 and the more decorated guitars such as the D41 and D45. The top bracing was significantly lighter, 20% lighter than that of a D28, making the D35 the most bass-responsive dreadnought at the time. These guitars were designed for a big, war
